Midlothian Lodge 211 Officers & Committees

Floor Work

  1. Get a strong Mentor who knows Floor work (Grand Lodge or District Instructor)
  2. Set Two nights per month to practice or do ritual work at a set time.  This is important to make these firm dates in the minds of the Brethren.  First, so anyone can come and participate.  Second, so no one has to send emails, texts, etc out to remind.  Make them the same days every month.  Also, brethren's family and friends will know they are busy those nights.  Also, only try to have a set meeting one time per week.  So don't plan these practices/ritual on the same weeks as stated meetings or district training.  Also, don't schedule on Shrine, Scottish Rite or York Rite nights if it can be helped.
  3. Go through floor work and don't worry about words in the beginning.
    1. Floor work
    2. Respect the Ritual.  Cutting up is fun, but during ritual is not the proper time.
    3. Dress, timing, etc
    4. Teach about the ritual. Assign someone to offer learning on why we do what do and what have some of the great Masonic Minds said about what we can learn from Ritual.
  4. It is best if Officers are at every ritual and practice.  I know this is a huge time commitment, but let the officer candidate know that this is a requirement BEFORE he gets in line.  Don't get in line if your cable toe is too short.  It will get longer as you get older.
